Abstract

The article examines the functional features of social media and compares with the main functions of traditional journalism. The material is theoretical in nature, but confirmed by practical examples from publications in the social networks and mass media. In the course of the comparative analysis, it is possible to show the main points of contact between the activities of journalists and bloggers at the functional level, as well as to highlight local differences.
