AUTOMATED SYSTEMS FOR DIAGNOSING DISEASES: A REVIEW OF EXISTING TOOLS

Abstract

Diagnostic expert systems are computer-based decision-support systems that are designed to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing diseases. They are designed to provide a list of possible diagnoses based on a patient's symptoms, medical history, and other relevant information. The basic operation of a diagnostic expert system involves capturing information from a patient, such as symptoms and medical history, and using that information to generate a list of potential diagnoses. The system then uses knowledge-based techniques, such as decision trees and rule-based systems, to narrow down the list of potential diagnoses to arrive at a final diagnosis.
