Abstract. The rapid development of digitisation, three-dimensional modelling, virtual and augmented reality, digital archiving, and platform-based storage has significantly expanded the scope of digital cultural heritage. Contemporary digital heritage includes resources created directly in digital environments, such as websites, digital art, virtual museums, video games, and spatial models. However, existing classification approaches remain fragmented, and no unified analytical framework simultaneously addresses the cultural, technical, functional, and institutional dimensions of digital heritage. This study develops an integrative multidimensional classification model based on a conceptual analysis of international normative documents, recent scholarship on heritage studies and digital infrastructures, and a comparative review of existing classificatory, informational, and functional models.
The proposed model comprises five interrelated dimensions and enables a single digital object to be classified across multiple parameters. This multidimensional approach provides a more comprehensive framework for analysing cultural functions, institutional affiliation, social significance, and the long-term sustainability of digital cultural heritage.
