Abstract

In the era of new media and the global information society, the issue of information verification becomes key. Fake news creates a wrong worldview in society and affects the perception of information. Fact checking and its role in shaping a new system of journalism requires a careful methodological approach. In the modern period of development of new media, it is necessary to determine to what extent Internet media are a reliable source of news; how news portals check sources of information; analyze the importance of fact-checking.
